Winter Warmers from the High Street

Winter is on it's way, and with it comes all the stresses of finding knitwear that won't suffocate you, and jackets that won't show off all of your wobbly bits. If you look on the High-Street this season you will find that one of the key trends is the Alpine/Folk trend which looks best when teamed with denim and faux fur. Luckily for us curvy girls, this trend is really wearable and has a lot of options for the larger lady. Check out two of my favourite High-Street items for this trend.

Dorothy Perkins is showing a lot of glamorous and cute knitwear that is loose fitting but is still on trend and has details and patterns that will go with your comfiest pair of jeans. They also have a lot of coats that would look great on us curvy girls. My favourite item from Dorothy Perkins this season is their range of Fairisle knits - especially this cropped sleeve Jumper. It would look great teamed with some slim leg Jeans and Uggs, or with some beige shorts, opaque tights and heeled hiking boots. You can wear this trend with pretty much anything, but try not to incorporate anything too structured.


New Look also has a lot of folky pieces in their A/W2010 "Inspire" range which fits sizes 18 - 26. One of the best items from this collection is this faux fur jacket which is in a very flattering waterfall cut, and at £49.99 it isn't that expensive either, especially considering that you can wear this over pretty much anything! I think it would look best teamed with a plain jersey top, boyfriend Jeans and neutral ballet pumps or high heels. 


There is so much choice out there for plus-size beauties this season that it would be pretty difficult not to look fabulous through Christmas and in to the New Year. Just remember to try things on, buy the right size and buy a few investment pieces that will take you in to S/S2011, so your wardrobe's transition won't be so drastic.
