It's been so long since my last post that I feel kind of guilty! I've been so busy with my University application, moving, family stuff blah blah blah!
Anyway, the topic for todays blog: LOOK Magazine.
I love, love, love, LOOOOOVE this magazine so much that it's become one of my OCD must-have-every-week things. And i'm so glad that I buy it every week because one of their recent issues featured a plus-size model. And I mean a real plus-size model. Not a size 14 model with the perfect hourglass figure, but a size 16/18 beautiful girl with a gorgeous set of pins and a sizeable bum and bust. I felt elated to see her, especially when she looked even more gorgeous than the size 6/8 model pictured next to her!
Well done LOOK. I hope you continue this trend. I take my hat off to you.

Christmas Party Ideas
There are only 71 days until Christmas people! I'm so excited, i've gone all Festive and have been looking around for the best Christmas Party dresses for all us plus-size beauties. More to follow, so watch this space!
The first look is a classic LBD with a twist. One sleeve LBD teamed with on-trend leopard print heels.
The dress is a gorgeous shape, and has sheer material layered over a classic black dress. You can get this dress in sizes 16-22 in Dorothy Perkins for only £40 and the shoes are only £45! This look would look great on all body shapes, especially pear shapes and apples. If you're a little bit top heavy, make sure you wear a really good strapless bra, and if you're conscious of your legs wear some opaque tights under the dress.
The second look is a bit more daring, but definately worth trying for those of you who like to stand out. I channeled a bit of 70s glamour with this one, teaming a velvet jewell-blue dress with some gorgeous gold platform sandals. Team this look with big hair and big attitude and you'll certainly turn heads. The dress is from the Beth Ditto collection from Evans which is available up to size 32 and costs £50. The shoes are Simple Be and also cost £50. Christmas glam for £100!?! Bargainous! If you're conscious of your arms like me then team this little number with a shrug or cropped cardigan.
The last look is my favourite! Inspired by the Vintage looks that have dominated the high-street this year, I have teamed a beautiful cream dress with bold, red heels. The ruffled detail on the arms of this dress make it a definate lust-have in my book. The dress is from Dorothy Perkins, costing only £38, and the amazing pillar-box coloured heels are only £35 - again from DP! So not only my favourite outfit, but also the cheapest. You really will stand out in this one, but if you're not keen on wearing neutrals then this might not be for you. If you want to cover your legs up a bit, try teaming this dress with some detailed or patterned tights or opaque tights if you'd prefer.

Attention all Shoe Addicts!!
That stylish little minx Miss. Nicole Richie always looks great, and one of the things that I always notice about her is that even when her clothes are casual and laid back, she always has a killer pair of shoes to complete her look. One of the best pairs I have seen her sporting is a lustworthy pair of Christian Louboutin studded shoe boots. They're gorgeous! However, if you're not quite as flush as Nicole (much like myself) then I have some good news for you.
Not only do Dune have a fantastic look-alike pair available, but if you head on over to Dune @ eBay outlet you can snag them for £84! That's £36 less than the original price on Dune's website and over £600 less than the real deal. Bargainous!

BRB..// Jersey Tee & Jeans
The main idea behind these looks was After work drinks with the girls, however upon reflection, you could use this kind of look for a date or for Sunday lunch with the family too. Both of these looks are put together using clothes that are available in sizes 18-26, and in both looks I used a plain black, long-sleeve Jersey tee (£6.00) and a pair of straight leg Jeans (£19.99), both from New Look's Inspire range. PLUS both looks cost way less than £100.00 which I think is a total bargain.
The first outfit is one that I actually own and have worn very recently for a night out with some of the girls from work. Everyone liked my outfit, but strangely enough the majority of compliments came from the skinniest member of the group who happens to be a size 8!!! So I know this one is a winner. One thing I will say is that the top comes up quite large, I bought it in an 18 because it isn't stretch, but it is quite big for me. I actually could have done with it being a few inches smaller around the bust area. But this outfit is really girly and sweet, without being too revealing or pink.
The second outfit uses another top from the Inspire range @ New Look. This top is a sleeveless pussybow blouse, but if you are conscious of your upper arms like me then you could easily wear the Jersey tee underneath it and still look gorgeous, sexy and sophisticated. I swear by pussybow details for transition dressing too! Going from work straight for drinks/dinner is the ideal time to test-drive one of these, and trust me you will not be dissapointed. I teamed this outfit with another pair of peep-toes from Evans, but this look would look just as cute with a pair of ballet pumps or sandals.
The real star of this look though, in my opinion, is the Jeans. I now own a pair of these and they are amazing. They are high-wasited, are the ideal alternative to skinny jeans and they come in 4 different leg lengths; 29" 30" 31" and 33". I know that kind of sucks for women who are "32 inside leg, but they look good rolled up too so everyone can wear them!. I have worn these with ballet pumps, sneakers and boots now so they really do go with anything and at £19.99 you can't really go wrong. I highly recommend buying a pair (or two).

Winter Warmers from the High Street
Winter is on it's way, and with it comes all the stresses of finding knitwear that won't suffocate you, and jackets that won't show off all of your wobbly bits. If you look on the High-Street this season you will find that one of the key trends is the Alpine/Folk trend which looks best when teamed with denim and faux fur. Luckily for us curvy girls, this trend is really wearable and has a lot of options for the larger lady. Check out two of my favourite High-Street items for this trend.
Dorothy Perkins is showing a lot of glamorous and cute knitwear that is loose fitting but is still on trend and has details and patterns that will go with your comfiest pair of jeans. They also have a lot of coats that would look great on us curvy girls. My favourite item from Dorothy Perkins this season is their range of Fairisle knits - especially this cropped sleeve Jumper. It would look great teamed with some slim leg Jeans and Uggs, or with some beige shorts, opaque tights and heeled hiking boots. You can wear this trend with pretty much anything, but try not to incorporate anything too structured.
New Look also has a lot of folky pieces in their A/W2010 "Inspire" range which fits sizes 18 - 26. One of the best items from this collection is this faux fur jacket which is in a very flattering waterfall cut, and at £49.99 it isn't that expensive either, especially considering that you can wear this over pretty much anything! I think it would look best teamed with a plain jersey top, boyfriend Jeans and neutral ballet pumps or high heels.
There is so much choice out there for plus-size beauties this season that it would be pretty difficult not to look fabulous through Christmas and in to the New Year. Just remember to try things on, buy the right size and buy a few investment pieces that will take you in to S/S2011, so your wardrobe's transition won't be so drastic.

Chubby's Debut
This is the official first blog for Chubby Brit Chic!
I'm excited about blogging, even though I have no idea who will read this - or if anyone even will! I decided to start this blog because I am a "fat" girl living in the UK, and I hate the fact that some retailers only stock sizes 6-16 and that those who do stock "plus" sizes are not thinking about their customers when they design, cut and market the clothes to real women like us.
I think that we could do a lot more in the UK to market to women who, for whatever reason, are larger than a size 16 but still want to look amazing and be able to wear the trends that we all see in the magazines. It's everywhere: "Fat is not Fabulous". But I would like to challenge this ideal. I want to ask why so many "fat" girls are deemed to be not beautiful, not sexy and not healthy. I myself was once a size 10. And my god was I miserable! I also have more energy and self-confidence now that I am a size 16 - 18, which is something that you don't hear all that often nowadays.
So for all my fellow plus-size sisters out there, I am doing this blog. It is not going to be a blog where I pour out all of my hate and insecurities, rather it is going to be a place where I (and all of you hopefully) will be able to talk about what we REALLY want from the fashion industry and how we can possibly achieve it. I will also be posting product reviews, polyvore sets with ideas for outfits for different body shapes to wear and this blog will be full of news from the plus-size fashion world. You can also e-mail me directly to request a polyvore set if you have a specific event coming up.
So get involved and tell me what you're thinking, feeling, eating & wearing!
